10.06.11 - RJ - Today your swimming teacher said that you are good enough to be part of the swim academy. I am so proud of you. You started taking swimming lessons in June. After finishing 1 class, you were able to go to the next level right away. The teachers always tell me that you swim like a little fish. You enjoy it a lot and are proud of your accomplishments.
Today, was picture day in school. You picked out your own clothes (vest and tie). After coming home from school, you refused to change because "you want to always be handsome". Too adorable!
You had a growth spurt in the last few months. All of a sudden, none of your clothes would fit. You are a lot taller now and your appetite is soaring. You can easily finish 2 sandwiches in one sitting. You are now a little bit more open to trying new food. You recently tried soup and chicken barbecue which you quite enjoyed. I hope that you can try more food in the near future.
You are a very good reader. The teacher sent a note a few weeks ago and you read the note all by yourself. You can read books on your own which is quite an accomplishment for a 4 year old. You are also learning addition and subtraction. You have a good grasp of the concept, but we just need to practice some more. As for writing, you are still not too enthusiastic about it.
You are well behaved and you try hard to follow the rules.
I believe at this point you truly understand what is going on. You try to be the best that you can be and I am proud of you.
Richard - You are a very happy little boy. You love to jump or at least you attempt to. When mom brings you to playgroup, your favorite part is singing and dancing to all the songs that you know by heart. When the teacher says 5 Little Monekys, you quickly stand up and start to jump. You are too funny to watch.
You copy everything that your brother does. Earlier before bedtime as I was changing your diapers, you run to the bathroom. I followed you and saw you get a step stool, stand in front of the potty and went! I was so proud of you. I have not attempted to potty train you but I think you are ready.
As for eating, I have no problems feeding you. You favorite thing to eat is meat! :) You like to eat rice and soup which is totally different from RJ. RJ loves his bread and pasta while you are not too crazy about those.
You began to talk at around 1.5. You have a lot more words now and I am often surpised at the things that you can say. One time as we were leaving the store, you told the cashier "bye, bye, see you!" I was so stunned. At home your favoirte words are "watch TV, Diego, yummy, no, yes, banana, apple juice, please" You have a way of letting us know what you want even if you cannot say it. You are an amazing little boy and you bring so much joy to our home.
01.15.11 - RJ - As of late, you prefer to stay home to watch TV or just play with your toys. Your very full morning schedule might have contributed to your preferring to stay home. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings you attend preschool at Eastminster. On Tuesdays, you go to Moms Day Out at YMCA, on Thursdays, we head to the library for either your reading time or Richard's reading time and on Sunday, you attend Chinese school.
Your imagination is running wild lately. You like making up stories while playing and you like naming all your toys.
You are also starting to cover up things if you know you will get in trouble. We know this is just a natural part of growing up and is in fact a sign of intelligence base on a study that Dad had read about. For example yesterday you were too engrossed playing that you had an accident and wet your pants. You told us that you need to change your pants. When asked why, you said "nothing" whereas before you would have said that you peed in your pants.
Richard - You took your first step on Dec. 22, 2010, just a few days after you turned 1. Ever since, you would walk non-stop while you are awake. RJ was the same way, I get tired just by watching you guys walk back and forth. You would open all the cabinets, take things out and throw them on the floor. You love to explore. Today, you were like a new baby. All of a sudden, you are very stable on your feet. I have a feeling that you will start running in a couple of days.
You love eating fried food most specially french fries. Seeing them makes you smile. You currently have 6 teeth on top and 2 at the bottom but it looks like you can chew your food quite well. You prefer to eat/see big pieces of your food rather than cut up small pieces. You favorite thing to do is to read books. You would make Mom and Dad read your books over and over again by persistently handing your books to us. Your next favorite thing is taking a bath. You enjoy playing in the tub with RJ. You can't wait to jump in the tub each time we prepare your bath water. You know how to kiss, hug, do open and shut them, waive hi and bye and do beautiful eyes.
